According to statistics of the Ministry of Health, on April 22, there were 2,337 new COVID-19 cases, down 137 cases compared to the previous day˳ This is the first day that new COVID-19 cases have decreased after a week of continuous increases˳ During the day, 532 cases were announced to be cured, currently 123 patients are seriously ill˳

The whole country recorded 1 death in Hanoi, this is the first death after nearly 4 months without recording a death˳

The total number of deaths due to COVID-19 in Vietnam so far is 43,187 cases, accounting for 0˳4% of the total number of infections˳

High-risk groups need full doses of COVID-19 vaccine

Regarding the booster dose of COVID-19 vaccine, Dr˳ Dang Thanh Huyen – deputy head of the National Expanded Immunization Office – said that the Ministry of Health recommends high-risk groups include people aged 50 and older; people with moderate to severe immunodeficiency; people at high risk of being exposed to COVID-19… need to get a full dose of the basic COVID-19 vaccine and 2 booster shots˳

“Currently, the Ministry of Health does not have guidelines for the 3rd booster dose (5th dose)˳ Besides vaccination, the Ministry of Health recommends that people follow the principle of protecting themselves and others in public places˳ by wearing masks and disinfecting regularly,” Huyen said˳
