Review On A Sketch of Wathone

I recently watched the Documentary about one of Myanmar’s artist, “A Sketch Of Wathone”˳ ‘A Sketch of Wathone’, a film directed by Burmese director Kyi Phyu Shin which profiled Wathone’s life, won a National Geographic award for best feature-length film˳

From the seclusion of his charmingly idiosyncratic home, Wathone – one of Myanmar’s best-known painters – shares his thoughts about his life, art, and family˳ Wathone spent most of his life painting and lived simply and modestly, according to his colleagues˳

Firstly, he explain about his name “Wathone” means “The Earth”, he likes this name because he thinks “We’re all part of the earth, no matter how rich or poor you are, you’ll end up in the earth, as a corpse or ashes˳ He want to paint all the world’s creatures˳ Money doesn’t matter to him, he want to do what he love˳ He think many people have to do things to survive, but their hearts aren’t in it, he doesn’t like this kind of living˳ “He explains about his life partner, they has been married for 40 years, his wife is from village, she can contempt her life as well˳ Their children are all turned out well˳ So he pleased the whole his life and his family even though they are not too rich˳ He never beat his children but he was beaten by his parents˳ He doesn’t like that kind of manner˳

I read the news of his death, after the documentary has finished, so sad to hear˳ But I will always admire and remember him˳
