On the morning of June 17, for the first time, the health sector in Ho Chi Minh City collaborated with the Medical Association of Ho Chi Minh City to organize a conference “Evaluating the effectiveness and orientation of intensive medical development in Ho Chi Minh City”˳

This is a large-scale conference, with the participation of both Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen and Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Phan Van Mai, and leaders of the Ministry of Health˳

“Ho Chi Minh City is very proud of its achievements in specialized medical care”

Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Phan Van Mai said that Ho Chi Minh City is a big center in many aspects, the city’s health sector not only takes care of the health of more than 10 million people in Ho Chi Minh City, but also receives and treat millions of people nationally and internationally˳

In 2022, the city’s index of inpatient outpatients is 35˳3 million, accounting for 22˳8% of the total number of patients in the country˳

Ho Chi Minh City has 22 hospitals that are the last lines involved in providing professional support and directing for the southern provinces, and are also an important focal point in international cooperation in healthcare˳

To assume the role of a regional health center in the South, the city’s leaders and the health sector have been implementing contents such as: consolidating, developing and improving the grassroots medical network, focusing on Focusing on non-communicable diseases, deploying health stations according to the principles of family studies…

“Ho Chi Minh City is very proud of its achievements in specialized health care, medical facilities have a lot of research and application activities and have many achievements,” said the chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City˳

Mai added that the Resolution of the 11th Congress of the City Party Committee and the Resolution 31 of the Politburo on the orientation of the city’s development tasks in the coming time have determined the priority of resources to build the city’s health system˳ ˳Ho Chi Minh City is advanced, modern, applying high-tech technology, developing fields to reach the world’s advanced level towards the goal of being an ASEAN healthcare center˳

To achieve this goal, the city’s leaders and the health sector will perform six key tasks, including focusing on investing in perfecting the planned health system, especially specialized hospitals˳ have policies to encourage investors in hospitals, attract private investment, foreign investment, etc˳

How to attract medical tourism?

Mr˳ Tang Chi Thuong – director of the Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City – said that by learning the lessons learned from countries in the ASEAN region, how to attract a large number of people and tourists to come for medical examination and treatment˳ is very necessary when building solution groups, so that Ho Chi Minh City will soon become the health care center of the ASEAN region˳

Mr˳ Thuong gave a lesson when learning the experiences of three countries, Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia˳ These are the three countries voted to lead in terms of attracting a large number of tourists to medical examination and treatment˳

At the plenary session with the theme “Ho Chi Minh City will soon become the health care center of the ASEAN region”, the Department of Health presented important groups of solutions˳

In addition, at the thematic sessions, more than 80 scientific reports focusing on specialized techniques have been successfully deployed by hospitals in the past time, and at the same time, identifying gaps that need to be filled in in terms of technology˳ implementation of specialized techniques compared to countries with developed health systems in the region˳
