Some hospitals lack medicine because of… lack of solidarity

On the afternoon of July 14, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan visited and worked with Hue Central Hospital and leaders of Thua Thien Hue province on medical work in the area˳

At the meeting, Prof˳ Dr˳ Pham Nhu Hiep – director of Hue Central Hospital, said that in the first 6 months of the year, the hospital welcomed more than 400,000 patients for inpatient examination and treatment˳ Among them, the satisfaction rate reached 98%˳

Since the beginning of the year, the hospital has performed more than 23,000 surgeries, including 1 trans-Vietnamese heart transplant, 102 kidney transplants and 5 corneal transplants˳

Regarding the procurement of equipment, Mr˳ Hiep said that the hospital had completed the auction of the most modern CT512 scanner in Vietnam, which is expected to be brought back to Hue in August to serve patients˳

In addition, at the end of this year, the hospital will continue to participate in the bidding to buy an additional radiotherapy machine to serve the treatment of cancer patients˳

“In terms of medicine, basically Hue Central Hospital has achieved the goal of supplying drugs for medical examination and treatment, not allowing an alarming shortage of drugs and supplies like many places˳ However, to supply medicines˳ adequately and regularly, the hospital also faces many difficulties,” said Mr˳ Hiep˳

Talking about the shortage of drugs and medical supplies, Minister Dao Hong Lan said that this is a situation happening across the country and is “hot”˳

Ms˳ Lan explained that the shortage of drugs and medical supplies after the COVID-19 epidemic occurred not only in Vietnam but also around the world, when the medicinal herbs areas in China and India were forced to close due to the epidemic˳

Then the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, causing many problems on the way to transport medicine from European countries to Vietnam, is also one of the reasons for the shortage of drugs and medical supplies˳

Before the report of Hue Central Hospital, Ms˳ Lan said that she was impressed that the hospital’s leaders had “dare to think, dare to do, unite and resolve” in trying to ensure the supply of medicines and supplies˳ medical service˳

“There are units, our hospital mechanism is not lacking anything, only solidarity is lacking˳ This man is examined by the other˳ If he is not united, he cannot buy medicine,” said Ms˳ Lan˳

The peak of hand, foot and mouth disease came early, most worried about lack of medicine
