COVID-19 today: severe cases increase again

Currently, hospitals across the country are treating 88 severe cases, including 5 cases of invasive mechanical ventilation˳ Compared to May 18, the number of severe cases increased by 21 cases˳

During the day, 442 patients were declared cured and no deaths from COVID-19 were recorded˳ The average number of deaths in the past week is 0˳

Regarding the situation of vaccination against COVID-19, on May 18, 2,471 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered˳ Thus, the total dose of vaccine has been administered is 266˳345 million doses˳

Since the beginning of the epidemic, Vietnam has had more than 11,600 million infections, ranking 13 out of 231 countries and territories˳ While with the rate of infections / 1 million people, Vietnam ranks 120 / 231 countries and territories (1 million people with 117,232 infections on average)˳

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just assigned the Ministry of Health to assume the prime responsibility for, and coordinate with relevant ministries and agencies in, preparing documents according to regulations to transfer COVID-19 from group A infectious disease to group B and announce the end of the epidemic˳

The Ministry of Health shall submit the dossier to the Prime Minister for consideration and decision˳ At the same time, prepare the contents and programs, coordinate with the Government Office to hold a meeting of the National Steering Committee on May 27, 2023 to announce the end of the steering committee’s tasks˳
