Khoảng 15h on February 2nd (the 5th day of Tet), a severe traffic jam lasting over an hour occurred on the Mai Son Highway – National Route 45, in the direction from Thanh Hoa to Hanoi. The cause was identified as a pileup involving 4 cars at the locality of Thieu Quang Commune, Thieu Hoa District, Thanh Hoa Province.

Causes and Sequence of Events

According to information from Highway Patrol and Traffic Control Team No. 3, Department of Traffic Police (Ministry of Public Security), the pileup involving 4 cars caused prolonged traffic congestion. Upon receiving the report, authorities quickly arrived at the scene to direct traffic and guide vehicles to exit via National Route 1A.

Traffic rescue vehicles were deployed to handle the situation and clear the congestion promptly. By around 4:20 PM on the same day, the traffic jam on the Mai Son Highway – National Route 45 was resolved, and traffic returned to normal.
