Dozens hospitalized with suspected food poisoning after eating banh mi in Hanh Thong ward
Previously, from September 22 to September 26, 65 students from all three levels at V. school (Long Binh ward) experienced unusual symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting, and diarrhea, forcing them to miss school.
A common factor among these students was that they had eaten banh mi sold around their residential area (apartment complex) and the school. Among them, eight students were hospitalized for treatment at various hospitals, diagnosed with gastrointestinal infections. In addition to students, several parents also exhibited symptoms consistent with suspected food poisoning.
According to the leader of Thu Duc Regional Medical Center, since the incident began on September 22, collecting samples of the suspected food would have little value.
The incident has been reported to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health and the Ho Chi Minh City Food Safety Department. Functional agencies have been monitoring and promptly implementing investigative measures.
