During a meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on the evening of February 8, Mr. Le Van Dung, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Quang Nam Province, reported on the completion of administrative unit reorganization at the commune and district levels, reducing one district and eight communes and wards.
The province has also concluded and continued to implement Resolution 18 of the Party Central Committee regarding organizational and machinery restructuring.
According to the plan, the provincial level reduced six departments from 19 to 13, and cut 21.8% of internal units within departments. The province also established the Provincial Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee and the Party Committee of the People’s Committee.

Currently, 443 officials in the province have expressed their wish and submitted applications for early retirement or resignation, including 23 officials under the management of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee.
The Chairman of the People’s Committee of Quang Nam stated that in 2024, the province’s economy grew by 7.1%, with industrial production recovering positively, increasing by 13.5%. The province’s economic scale reached nearly 129 trillion VND, an increase of over 16.5 trillion VND compared to 2023. Per capita income in 2024 exceeded 84 million VND, up 10 million VND from 2023.
As of January 31, public investment for 2024 had been disbursed to 86.3%. State budget revenue as of December 31, 2024, reached 27.6 trillion VND, achieving 119% of the target and increasing by more than 10% compared to the same period.
Investment attraction showed significant improvement in 2024, with 29 new domestic investment projects approved, totaling 4.915 trillion VND in registered capital. Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) saw 10 new projects with registered capital of 135 million USD. To date, there are 1,157 domestic investment projects with over 227 trillion VND in investment, and 201 FDI projects with 6.36 billion USD.
Total tourist visits and stays in 2024 reached over 8 million, an increase of 14% compared to the same period and surpassing the plan by 6%, with 5.5 million international visitors, up over 16% from 2023.
The province has implemented exemptions and reductions in school fees for students from the 2024-2025 academic year. In 2024, the province reduced 4,397 poor households, leaving 20,272 households, accounting for a ratio of 4.56%. The province has raised sufficient funds to demolish nearly 11,000 temporary houses, with 6,535 demolished so far, reaching 60%, and expected to be completed before October.
