Introduction
The construction and connection of Gia Bình Airport in Bac Ninh with central Hanoi is receiving significant attention from the Bac Ninh provincial government. On February 10, 2025, Chairman of the Bac Ninh People’s Committee Vuong Quoc Tuan chaired a meeting to examine and unify the connection plan. This project not only benefits Bac Ninh province but also plays a crucial role in promoting economic and transportation infrastructure development in the entire region.

1. Start and End Points of the Connection Route
The start point of the connection route is located in Tan Lang commune, Luong Tai district, Bac Ninh province. The end point will connect to central Hanoi via Ho Tay area through the new Tu Lieng Bridge. From there, the route will continue over Tran Hung Dao Bridge to link with central Hanoi.
2. Route Through Key Locations
The route begins at Tan Lang commune, passing through Quynh Phu (Gia Binh district), Quang Phu (Luong Tai district), and Dai Bai (Gia Binh district). It then crosses Highway 4 and continues through Tram Lo commune (Thuan Thanh town). Next, it passes through the Chua Chieu Ung area, crosses Highway 38, and reaches the boundary of Gia Lam district (Hanoi).
3. Connection with Trung Mau Station
After crossing the Song Duong river into Trung Mau commune (Gia Lam district), the road will descend and connect with the intersection of National Highway 1 (Hanoi – Bac Ninh) and the Hanoi – Thai Nguyen expressway. The regional railway line will be elevated, crossing over the road to connect with Trung Mau station.
4. Connection with Kenh Vang Bridge
The connection to Kenh Vang Bridge was also discussed during the meeting. Starting from the project’s initial point in Tan Lang commune (Luong Tai), the route will head east through Phu Hoa and An Thinh communes. This route will connect to Kenh Vang Bridge, cross the Kinh Thay river, and extend to Nam Sach district (Hai Duong) to link with National Highways 37 and 18 leading to Quang Ninh.
5. Recommended Solutions
Chairman of the Bac Ninh People’s Committee Vuong Quoc Tuan emphasized that this is a century project, bringing a breakthrough in national development, particularly for Bac Ninh province. He proposed that relevant departments study integrating the railway line with urban roads, ensuring aesthetic appeal, and facilitating urban, commercial, and service development.

The chairman requested functional units to finalize the official plan and unify it in writing with Hanoi. By June 30, the Department of Transportation must complete proposals for investment forms, focusing on land clearance and relocation of structures within the route area. For the Department of Construction, the provincial leadership asked for adjustments to the provincial planning, completing tasks within their authority by the first quarter.
