According to reports from Dân trí journalists, starting at 2 PM on February 11, the Messenger messaging tool experienced widespread instability globally, including in Vietnam.
The issue primarily affected mobile users, who were mostly unable to send or receive messages. Messages on the Messenger app remained stuck in the “Sending” status.
Meanwhile, desktop users of Messenger faced intermittent issues, with messages being sent after several attempts.

On Facebook and other social media platforms, users expressed frustration over the Messenger outage, which disrupted their work, especially for online sellers and those frequently communicating with customers via Messenger.
Data from DownDetector, a website that monitors the status of major online services like Facebook, Gmail, Messenger, and Instagram, showed that users in many countries reported similar issues with Messenger as those in Vietnam.
Some users claimed they resolved the issue by uninstalling the Messenger app from their smartphones and reinstalling it, after which the app worked normally. However, not everyone was successful in fixing the problem.

By around 4 PM, the issue was resolved, and many users were able to use Messenger normally again.
As of now, Meta (the parent company of Facebook and Messenger) has not commented on the incident.
With over 2 billion users worldwide, Messenger is the largest free messaging and calling app. Vietnam is one of the countries with the highest number of Messenger users globally.
