On November 7, Children’s Hospital 1 (HCMC) admitted a critical emergency case. The patient is a 13-year-old male student who sustained severe injuries after falling from the third floor of a local school.
At the scene, upon arrival of the 115 emergency team, the child showed signs of cyanosis and gasping for breath, indicating severe respiratory failure. Medical staff quickly performed intubation at the school before transferring the child to Children’s Hospital 1.

According to Dr. Dinh Tan Phuong, Head of the Emergency Department, the patient was admitted in a dangerous condition, suffering from severe respiratory failure and hypovolemic shock. Upon arrival, the child immediately underwent intensive resuscitation, including mechanical ventilation, pleural drainage, anti-shock fluid resuscitation, and blood transfusion.
Examination results and CT scans revealed multiple severe injuries. The child suffered from bilateral pneumothorax, cerebral hemorrhage, abdominal fluid, and right kidney trauma.
Regarding the child’s health, Dr. Phuong stated that a precise prognosis could not yet be given due to the child’s very critical condition.
In the coming period, the patient will continue to be closely monitored. Doctors will flexibly manage treatment based on the health progression, including considering intervention for cerebral hemorrhage if the condition worsens, or continued lung drainage to address pneumothorax, aiming to support the child’s respiratory function.
