Around 2 PM on February 15, heavy rain poured down across many districts of Ho Chi Minh City. This marks the fourth consecutive day of rainfall in the city during what is typically the dry season.
According to Dan Tri reporters covering areas such as Binh Tan, Tan Binh, Districts 11, 10, 6, and 8, the rain was intense. Many motorcyclists faced difficulties navigating the wet roads.

“At noon, the sun was blazing, and the air felt extremely hot. By early afternoon, it cooled down, and then the heavy rain started. The prolonged rain made the air much cooler. Having rain like this in the dry season is truly refreshing and helps cool the weather,” shared Ms. Thu (23 years old, residing in District 11).
According to the Southern Regional Hydro-Meteorological Center, continental cold air continues to move eastward and weaken. The equatorial low-pressure trough has shifted northward to around 10-12 degrees latitude, linked to a weakening tropical depression off the southern central coast. In higher altitudes, the subtropical high-pressure system over Central Vietnam remains relatively weak.
Ho Chi Minh City and the southern region experienced light sunshine with scattered showers in the morning through noon and at night. Rainfall concentrated more heavily in the Southeast provinces. Over the next 2-3 days, these areas will continue to see rain in the afternoon and evening. Some places may experience light fog in the early morning, with intermittent sunshine during the day.
In an interview with Dan Tri, Mr. Le Dinh Quyet, Head of Forecasting at the Southern Regional Hydro-Meteorological Center, noted that in recent days, some areas in Ho Chi Minh City have received over 100mm of off-season rain. Considering both the volume and timing of the rainfall (during the dry season), the rainstorm on the night of February 12 and early morning of February 13 was unusual and unprecedented for Ho Chi Minh City.
