On the evening of February 15, at the outdoor stage of Park City Hanoi urban area, the live concert Giấc mơ Sol (Sol Dream) by composer Giáng Son took place. This was a milestone concert celebrating 40 years of her musical career, marking her first large-scale live performance with an audience of 2,000 people.
Amidst a spring atmosphere filled with “grass” and “rain,” where yellow laburnum flowers were in full bloom, the audience immersed themselves in Giấc mơ Sol, enjoying 26 compositions showcasing Giáng Son’s diverse musical styles: from pop, contemporary folk, classical, jazz, blues to rock…
The stage design was simple yet elegant, utilizing the natural rows of trees surrounding the audience area. The combination of stage colors, fog effects, and lighting allowed the music to speak for itself.
Singer Thùy Chi opened the concert with the gentle melody of Anh (You), followed by the pure, romantic, and slightly folk-inspired lullaby-like Em mơ (I Dream).
Thùy Chi jokingly remarked that if anyone felt sleepy while listening to this song, they could take a quick nap. But even in sleep, one could still feel the story conveyed through the music.
Hoàng Dũng joined the program with tracks like Chạm (Touch), and a mashup of Vẽ em (Draw You) and Tìm (Search).
Standing on stage, Hoàng Dũng shared how happy, fortunate, and honored he felt to be part of such a legendary night alongside senior artists, performing works by a composer he deeply admires.
“Hoàng Dũng got to know composer Giáng Son 9 years ago during the Sing My Song program. I always feel lucky as a young artist with much to learn, standing here among these great talents. It’s truly a joy to be one of the colors in this musical journey about Giáng Son,” Hoàng Dũng expressed.
“The nightingale” Khánh Linh (left) and singer Hà Linh performed at Giấc mơ Sol. Khánh Linh delivered emotional ballads like Nắng muộn (Late Sunshine) and Ngày vừa chớp mắt (The Blink of an Eye), which carried a melancholic tone.
Returning to the stage after 10 years, Hà Linh left a strong impression with her powerful voice. Before 2,000 spectators, she brought Giáng Son’s “dream of Sol” to life with songs like Nếp ngày (Routine Days) and Trôi trong gương (Drifting in the Mirror).
Alongside soft pop or contemporary folk pieces, the concert also featured intense and fiery tracks such as Thu cạn (End of Autumn), Khát (Thirst), Đêm nay ta muốn tình tự (Tonight We Want Romance), and Bóng tối jazz (Jazz Darkness).
These highly “live-performance-friendly” tracks were brought to life by technically skilled vocalists: Tùng Dương, Thanh Lam, and Hà Trần, captivating the audience with electrifying moments.
The highlight of the show came from unexpected collaborations between singers and familiar songs: Dấu ấn (Impression) by Thùy Chi and Hoàng Dũng, Mùa đông không lạnh (Winter Not Cold) by Thanh Lam and Hà Trần, Những mùa hè lạnh (Cold Summers) by Tùng Dương and Hoàng Dũng, and Hà Nội 12 mùa hoa (Hanoi 12 Flower Seasons) by Thanh Lam, Hà Trần, Khánh Linh, Thùy Chi, and Hà Linh.
During the concert, composer Giáng Son expressed her feelings about connecting with the audience through music: “My sadness, I only knew how to write it down and embed it into my songs. But I never imagined so many listeners would hear and understand it. Perhaps they’ve experienced similar emotions. It’s something I couldn’t have dreamed of… Having my first-ever live concert, sharing my own songs, and speaking with everyone here tonight—I’ve never been happier!”
The concert concluded at 11:30 PM. Music expert Nguyễn Quang Long commented that the success of the concert stemmed from the harmonious blend of content and presentation. Featuring artists who have long collaborated with Giáng Son, the performers understood her music deeply.
Moreover, explosive and innovative performances suited the outdoor stage, offering the audience refreshing experiences.
