On the afternoon of February 16, the People’s Committee of Van Hoa Commune, Tuyen Hoa District, Quang Binh Province confirmed a serious boat capsizing incident that occurred in the area, resulting in one fatality and three others escaping unharmed.
The incident took place around 1 p.m. on the Gianh River, along the section flowing through Van Hoa Commune.
According to preliminary information, four residents from Phu Canh Commune, Quang Trach District, Quang Binh Province were traveling by boat when they encountered an unexpected accident.
Among the four people who fell into the river, H.T.O. (born in 1990) was swept away by the current and went missing, while the other three managed to swim safely to shore.
By 4 p.m. the same day, authorities had recovered O.’s body.
The cause of the boat capsizing is currently under investigation by relevant agencies.
