The early goal allowed the away team to play with psychological comfort, deploying a proactive game and putting significant pressure on the opponent’s goal. However, after a period of defending, the home team gradually regained control and launched several dangerous attacks towards the visitors’ goal. Nevertheless, no further goals were scored in the first half.

Entering the second half, Thailand continued to maintain possession proactively, making it difficult for Sri Lanka to build up play. In the 65th minute, the home team received another “cold shower” as they conceded for the second time. From a cross on the right wing, Jude Soonsup-Bell powerfully headed the ball into Sri Lanka’s net, increasing the score to 2-0.
The “War Elephants'” crosses proved to be a sharp weapon; in the 77th minute, also from a cross by Mickelson on the right wing, Pansa Hemviboon jumped high to head the ball past goalkeeper Fernando, giving the visitors a 3-goal lead.

This goal caused the home team to give up and appear weak in their attacks during the remaining minutes of the match. In the 90th minute, also from a cross on the right wing, striker Jude Soonsup-Bell was in the right place in the penalty area and fired the ball into Sri Lanka’s net.
Ultimately, the Thailand national team secured a 4-0 victory over Sri Lanka, thereby temporarily climbing to the top of Group D, putting pressure on Turkmenistan to win against Chinese Taipei in their match a few hours later.
