Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính recently engaged in a dialogue with 300 Vietnamese youth, praising their dedication and innovation. He highlighted the crucial role of young people in advancing national science and technology, fostering innovation, and driving digital transformation.
Meaningful Dialogue with Vietnamese Youth
The dialogue, which Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính deemed highly successful, was characterized by its democratic nature, lack of formality, high quality, sharing, guidance, feasibility, and effectiveness. This is the third such dialogue with Vietnamese youth since the 2020 Youth Law was enacted, demonstrating the government’s commitment and expectations for the younger generation.
The Prime Minister commended the initial achievements of Vietnamese youth in scientific research, technology application, innovation, and digital transformation. He noted that today’s youth, born into an era of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, possess limitless creativity and the ability to rapidly learn and master technology.
Youth’s Creative Reshaping of National Culture
A key theme of the dialogue was the Prime Minister’s praise for the youth’s innovative approach to revitalizing Vietnamese culture. He cited the music video “Bắc Bling” by singer Hòa Minzy as a prime example, emphasizing its creative energy, inspiring a new generation, and revitalizing national culture while attracting international attention.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of internationalizing Vietnamese culture while simultaneously incorporating global advancements. He urged Vietnamese youth to continue their spirit of innovation, fostering a movement and dynamism that transforms their intellectual energy into tangible achievements.
Three Crucial Directives from the Prime Minister
Despite acknowledging the achievements, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính emphasized that these were only initial steps. Vietnamese youth face significant challenges, including a shortage of skilled workforce to meet the needs of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation; intense competition in the labor market; hurdles in the startup ecosystem; insufficient investment in science and technology infrastructure; and limitations in cybersecurity and personal data protection.
The Prime Minister issued three key directives to Vietnamese youth:
- Action follows words: Science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation are not only crucial tasks but also opportunities for youth to demonstrate their determination, intelligence, and ambition to contribute to national development.
- Creative thinking, decisive action: Transform aspirations into tangible products, projects, and effective initiatives; leverage opportunities, respond to policies with adaptability and effectiveness.
- Unwavering spirit: Turning challenges into opportunities, competitive advantages, and driving force in the field of science, technology, and innovation.
The Prime Minister encouraged the youth to “think big, act decisively, value time and intelligence, act decisively at the right time, and push beyond their limits to continuously contribute to their country.”
