A fishing boat, the Tấn Tèo, sank off the coast of Nha Trang on February 20th, leaving one fisherman dead and another missing.

Early reports indicate that the Tấn Tèo, captained by Huỳnh Văn Quý, was carrying five crew members when it encountered rough seas approximately 700 meters from shore. The vessel quickly sank, leaving several crew members in danger.

Urgent Rescue Efforts

Following the sinking, the Cầu Bóng Border Guard Station (part of the Khánh Hòa Province Border Guard) immediately launched a rescue operation. They coordinated with local fishing boats in a combined effort to locate and rescue those in distress.

One Body Found, Search Continues

By 4 PM on the same day, rescuers recovered the body of a 61-year-old fisherman. Despite this grim discovery, search efforts continue for the remaining missing fisherman. The incident underscores the need for increased safety measures in the fishing industry. Improved safety equipment, adherence to weather warnings, and enhanced maritime safety protocols are crucial.
