Skeletal Remains Discovered in Nghệ An Cave

Local authorities in Nghĩa Đàn District, Nghệ An Province, confirmed on the evening of April 23rd that law enforcement personnel are securing the scene of a discovery of numerous skeletal remains believed to be human, in the Lèn Chùa area, bordering Nghĩa Thành and Nghĩa Hưng communes.

Earlier in the day, at approximately 1:30 PM, Nghĩa Thành Commune Police received a report from a local citizen about the discovery of two sets of skeletal remains at a cave entrance in the Lèn Chùa area.

Following the report, police arrived to investigate and documented the discovery of two skulls and several bone fragments at the scene. Further investigation into the cave revealed additional skeletal remains, though the exact number is still undetermined.

Around 3:30 PM, personnel from the Nghĩa Đàn District Military Command and the 26th Regiment (Ministry of National Defence) arrived to assess the site.

The military unit confirmed that the area was not under military jurisdiction, but rather a portion of planned reserve land for national defense purposes.

Following the inspection, the military personnel transferred responsibility of the matter to the local authorities.

Nghĩa Thành Commune Police, in coordination with other relevant agencies, are maintaining a strict security perimeter around the discovery site, awaiting further instructions from Nghĩa Đàn District People’s Committee to proceed with the next steps, which include forensic examination and identification of the remains.
