A section of road near the Bao Tron Culvert in Cai Nuoc District, Ca Mau Province, has experienced a significant collapse, leading to temporary road closures.

The Ca Mau Department of Construction reported that on April 23rd, the road surface showed signs of cracking and sinking.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the rising tides and strong currents through the culvert have eroded the foundation of the reinforced concrete embankment, which was strengthened in 2015.

Authorities have implemented temporary solutions to mitigate the flow of water through the culvert.

However, before the temporary solution was fully implemented, further damage occurred. On the morning of April 24th, the embankment and road surface experienced a significant collapse, impacting nearly half of the road’s width. This area is now impassable for vehicles.

Consequently, the Ca Mau Department of Construction, along with local authorities, have placed warning signs and temporarily closed the road to vehicular traffic. The authorities are now working to reinforce the road and restore it to a safe condition. The local authorities are also coordinating traffic diversions for commuters using this route.
