Introducing Lieutenant General Nguyễn Thanh Tùng for Hanoi City People’s Committee

The Hanoi City People’s Committee submitted a report to the Hanoi City People’s Council regarding the dismissal of six committee members of the 2021-2026 People’s Committee term due to job transfers and retirement.

The six individuals include: Nguyễn Hải Trung, former Director of Hanoi Police; Lê Anh Quân, former Director of the Planning and Investment Department; Lê Thanh Nam, former Director of the Natural Resources and Environment Department; Nguyễn Việt Hùng, former Director of the Information and Communications Department; Ngô Minh Hoàng, former Director of the Foreign Affairs Department; and Đỗ Đình Hồng, former Director of the Culture and Sports Department.

The Hanoi City People’s Committee also submitted a report to the Hanoi City People’s Council proposing the addition of Lieutenant General Nguyễn Thanh Tùng, Director of the Hanoi City Police, as a member of the 2021-2026 People’s Committee.

The 22nd session of the 16th Hanoi City People’s Council is scheduled for April 29th.

In addition to reviewing the personnel work resolutions based on the submitted reports, the Hanoi City People’s Council will also consider and approve other important matters, including the resolution on the policy for reorganizing administrative wards in the city.

Hanoi City has a total area of nearly 3,360 square kilometers, consisting of 30 administrative districts (12 districts, 1 city, and 17 counties), 526 administrative wards (160 wards, 21 towns, and 345 villages), and a permanent and temporary resident population of over 8.5 million.

Hanoi is projected to reorganize into 126 new wards and communes (reducing 400 wards and communes, equivalent to over 76% of the administrative wards), in line with the central government’s policies and directions, and in accordance with the city’s practical situation.
