Southeast Asian Media Responds to Kim Sang Sik’s ASEAN All-Stars vs. Man Utd Appointment

Today, the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) announced the selection of Coach Kim Sang Sik to lead the ASEAN All-Stars against Manchester United on May 28th in Malaysia.

Coach Kim Sang Sik’s talent was demonstrated when he guided the Vietnam national team to win the 2024 AFF Cup. His appointment to lead the ASEAN All-Stars further confirms his high regard in Southeast Asia.

Southeast Asian media commented on the appointment. Bola.net headlined: “Not Shin Tae Yong. Vietnam’s Coach Chosen to Lead ASEAN All-Stars Against Man Utd.”

The publication emphasized: “Rumors of Shin Tae Yong leading the ASEAN All-Stars have been answered. Instead, the AFF chose Coach Kim Sang Sik to coach the ASEAN All-Stars against Man Utd. Coach Kim Sang Sik took charge of the Vietnam national team in May last year and immediately led them to the AFF Cup title. Therefore, in terms of experience, he understands the players and playing styles of Southeast Asian teams. The AFF also considered the South Korean coach suitable for the ASEAN All-Stars. He is viewed as someone who brought progress and professionalism to the Vietnamese national team.”

Coach Kim Sang Sik is proud to receive the trust of the AFF. He affirms his willingness to dedicate himself fully to the match against Man Utd. It should be added that representatives from each member country of the AFF will attend the match. Each country will have around 2-3 players participating.”

Bola.Okezone also revealed ticket prices for the Bukit Jalil stadium. VIP tickets will cost 1,500 Ringgit (equivalent to $8.6 million). Subsequent categories are priced at 780 Ringgit ($4.5 million), 580 Ringgit ($3.3 million), 380 Ringgit ($2.1 million), 250 Ringgit ($1.4 million), 100 Ringgit ($0.58 million), and 50 Ringgit ($0.29 million).

Siam Sport (Thailand) wrote: “The AFF has chosen Vietnam national team head coach Kim Sang Sik to lead the ASEAN All-Stars against Man Utd on May 28th. This is an honor for Coach Kim Sang Sik. He will lead the team in this historic match.

Vocket (Malaysia) commented: “The AFF has explained the reasons behind choosing Coach Kim Sang Sik to lead the ASEAN All-Stars. Coach Kim’s leadership abilities have been demonstrated through integrity, discipline, and vision.

Especially when he led the Vietnam national team to the AFF Cup victory just a few months after taking the helm. This achievement earned him the trust of the Southeast Asian football community. The upcoming match is an opportunity for Southeast Asia to unite and strive for a common goal.”

Another Malaysian publication, Bharian, acknowledged Coach Kim Sang Sik’s suitability to lead the ASEAN All-Stars against Man Utd after his success with the Vietnamese national team.
