On April 25th, during a voter meeting, Da Nang Party Secretary Nguyen Van Quang discussed the city’s commitment to developing a new economic model through the Free Trade Zone and International Financial Center projects.
According to Mr. Quang, the National Assembly will discuss and provide feedback on the resolution to establish an international financial center in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang.

Mr. Quang analyzed that this is a strategic move based on the unique advantages of each location. While Ho Chi Minh City excels in traditional financial ecosystems, stock exchanges, Da Nang possesses strengths in strategic geographic location, attractive living and working environment, and good security.
The Da Nang Party Secretary emphasized that investors, including international billionaires, highly value Da Nang’s development potential and investment environment.
Another key element is the establishment of a free trade zone in Da Nang, which will attract investment in high-level manufacturing, logistics, trade, and services sectors, creating jobs and attracting high-quality personnel. Areas like Lien Chieu and Hoa Vang will transform into modern cities, modeled after those in developed countries.
A highly ambitious project under consideration is a coastal city project along Da Nang Bay.
According to Mr. Quang, the city is studying a plan to build five floating islands, creating approximately 48km of new coastline, aiming to establish an international financial, trade, and service center complex.

The Da Nang Party Secretary stressed that this is a very large project with high specificity. If successful, Da Nang will be the first locality in the country to build a coastal city.
“Da Nang is meticulously researching and developing a plan, seeking investment formulas with special mechanisms. If successful, it will create significant value, boost economic and social development, and establish a new image and brand for Da Nang,” Mr. Quang emphasized, likening the project to Dubai’s current model.
The Da Nang Party Secretary hopes residents will continue to support the city’s major strategies.
