On April 30th, the Điện Biên Province Police Department is investigating a two-car accident that occurred early this morning, resulting in one fatality.
The accident happened around 2:10 AM at kilometer 85+200 of National Highway 279 in Thanh Xương commune (Điện Biên district), involving vehicles with license plates 27A-074.xx and 27H-005.xx. The latter was driven by Lê Văn K. (born 1987), residing in Điện Biên district.

Police reports indicate that Mr. K. died at the scene. Both vehicles sustained significant damage, with estimated losses around 110 million VND.
Significantly, the driver of vehicle 27A-074.xx fled the scene after the collision.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver of vehicle 27A-074.xx failed to pay attention, causing the accident.
By 10:00 AM, the driver, Phạm Duy Tuấn Đ. (born 1998), from Điện Biên City, had turned himself in to the police.
“A breathalyzer test revealed that Mr. Đ. had a blood alcohol content of 0.230mg/liter,” a spokesperson for the Điện Biên Province Police stated.
