Once weighing 264kg and consuming nearly 2 liters of soda daily, young man Trọng Nhân from Ho Chi Minh City has overcome all limits to successfully lose weight. His story is not just about changing his physique but also a lesson in extraordinary willpower and resilience.
Life Before Weight Loss
Few people know that as a child, Trọng Nhân suffered from severe malnutrition and was frequently hospitalized. After being nourished by his family, he began to gain weight uncontrollably from the age of 5. By sixth grade, he had become the heaviest student in school.

Excessive weight caused numerous difficulties in his life. He couldn’t bend due to slipped discs and degeneration of his spine. Even walking short distances left him breathless, along with serious health issues like diabetes and metabolic disorders.
Determination to Change
At 28, Trọng Nhân decided to change his life. After losing over 30kg, he joined a weight loss center in Buon Ma Thuot to continue his journey. There, he followed a regimen of exercise, nutrition, and supplementary medicine.
Exercise Routine
In the early days, due to his large weight, he was instructed to swim and walk in water. “They called it swimming, but initially, I just waved my hands and feet in the pool,” he shared. After losing around 35kg, he started doing resistance training, high-intensity cardio, and even boxing—sports known for their fat-burning effectiveness.

Nutritional Adjustments
According to Trọng Nhân, nutrition plays a crucial role, accounting for about 70% of successful weight loss. He eliminated unhealthy eating habits, especially the consumption of industrial sodas. His family continuously encouraged and supported him throughout this journey.
The results were remarkable! Each month, his weight dropped by an average of nearly 10kg, from 230kg down to 103kg in just over a year. Today, he can move easily and feels much more comfortable.
The Journey to Remove Excess Skin
Even after successfully losing weight, Trọng Nhân still had a significant amount of excess skin. To address this, he is preparing for two stages of surgery to remove the excess skin.
Stage 1 Surgery
Dr. Tống Hải, Head of the Microsurgery and Reconstructive Surgery Department, stated: “We will perform the first surgery to remove all the excess upper body skin. Afterward, Trọng Nhân can start light exercises from the fourth day post-surgery.”

Stage 2 Surgery
Three months later, he will undergo surgery to remove excess skin from his legs. Simultaneously, doctors will plan aesthetic procedures and combine them with exercises to reduce belly fat accumulation.
According to Dr. Hải, while skin removal surgery is not difficult, it requires careful attention to incision lines and the amount of skin removed to avoid contracture scars. Patients will also use compression bandages and scar-reducing medications to support recovery.
