On February 5, authorities from Nghia Phu Ward, Gia Nghia City (Dak Nong Province) confirmed that reports of child abduction in the area were false. This incident drew significant attention and unnecessary concerns from the community.
Incident Details
According to official sources, around 11 AM on February 5, a woman carrying a baby under one year old entered a restaurant in Nghia Phu Ward for a rest. While eating, the baby continuously cried and even screamed, drawing the attention of people nearby. Despite the mother’s efforts to soothe the child, she was unable to calm it down.
People suspected the woman of child abduction and reported it to the police.
Witnesses suspected the woman might be a kidnapper and immediately filmed, photographed, and reported the incident to local authorities. Some also shared the information on social media, posting: “Suspected child abduction in Nghia Phu Ward, Gia Nghia City.”
Official Investigation
Upon receiving the report, Nghia Phu Police quickly arrived at the scene to investigate. After verification, authorities concluded that the woman and the child were actually mother and son. The mother, lacking experience and skill in caring for her young child, was unable to soothe the crying baby, leading to misunderstandings among bystanders.

Leaders of Nghia Phu People’s Committee shared: “We found that the mother was inexperienced and struggled with caring for her child. After understanding the family situation, local police and residents provided a small amount of money to help the mother better care for her baby.”
Mother’s Circumstances
Local residents recounted that the woman had traveled by motorbike from Lam Dong Province to Dak Nong on the same afternoon. She stopped at the restaurant to rest when the unexpected situation occurred. The continuous crying of the baby and the mother’s awkward actions led to unwarranted suspicions.
Lessons Learned
This incident serves as a crucial reminder to be cautious before making judgments or sharing unverified information. While kindness and vigilance are commendable, they can unintentionally harm innocent individuals if not handled carefully.
Authorities encourage the public to remain calm and avoid jumping to conclusions in similar situations. Instead, they should report incidents to the police for timely investigation and resolution.
