The 1,000 dong noodle shop run by Ms. Hà Mai Sương at No. 2B Le Loi Street, Hai Chau District, Da Nang, has become a familiar spot for low-income workers, especially during the days leading up to Tet. Beyond providing a filling meal, this shop is a symbol of compassion and mutual support within the vibrant city.

A Meaningful Model for the Community

With the aim of helping those in difficult circumstances, Ms. Sương utilized the small storefront in front of her house to open a self-service noodle shop. For just 1,000 dong, customers can exchange for a bowl of noodles complete with vegetables, eggs, and hot water. Bowls and chopsticks are provided, allowing diners to prepare and enjoy their meal on-site.

Ms. Sương shared that this initiative began as a spontaneous idea but carries significant humanitarian value. With an initial investment of only 3 million dong, she personally prepared everything from tables and utensils to ingredients. “I want to create opportunities for poor laborers to have quality meals without worrying about costs,” she said.

Serving Everyone, Anytime

The noodle shop caters to all ages and professions. From students, delivery personnel, to street cleaners, anyone can stop by for a meal. The shop operates from early morning until late at night, accommodating various needs.

Notably, Ms. Sương does not limit the number of bowls served daily. Whenever the noodle supply runs low, she quickly replenishes it to ensure everyone has the chance to be served. This reflects her thoughtful and compassionate approach to serving the community.

Spreading the Message of Love

In over three weeks of operation, the noodle shop has received positive feedback from the community. Many young people have supported the initiative by contributing noodle packets, eggs, and vegetables to maintain its meaningful activities. Ms. Sương hopes that this model will spread throughout the city, helping more individuals in need.

“This is a very practical model, providing low-income workers with a satisfying meal,” shared Mr. Nguyễn Văn Toản, a technician in Da Nang. “For just 1,000 dong, the bowl is filled with eggs and vegetables, making it high-quality. I believe this model should be expanded to support those with lower incomes.”

It demonstrates how small yet significant actions can create substantial impacts within the community. Let’s join hands to spread this message of love and build a better society.
