A friend of Elva Hsu’s ex-husband, Uong Xiao Fei, revealed to QQ that he was severely depressed after his former wife’s sudden passing. The businessman experienced a relapse of depression and bipolar disorder.

“Since learning about Elva’s death, he has been crying every day. Recently, he has been continuously shouting and threatening suicide. This is extremely concerning for his family,” the friend shared.

The friend also stated that Uong Xiao Fei had no intention of contesting Elva Hsu’s estate or forcing their two children to move back to Beijing with him, as some social media reports suggested.

According to Chinese media, Elva Hsu left behind an estimated multi-million-dollar estate. If she did not leave a will, her assets would be divided among her current husband and two children.

On February 6, the current husband of Elva Hsu, Koo Jun Yup, announced that he would not claim any inheritance and transferred all assets to Elva Hsu’s mother.

Elva Hsu passed away while a legal battle over asset division and child custody with Uong Xiao Fei was still ongoing. According to 163 sources, the court hearing is scheduled for February 27.

Since Elva Hsu’s death, Uong Xiao Fei has been involved in several controversial actions and statements. When he received the tragic news from his ex-wife’s family, he was on vacation with his current partner in Thailand.

The businessman quickly returned to Taiwan on February 3, looking exhausted with swollen eyes. He appeared at the airport and bowed before the press.

On February 6, Uong Xiao Fei addressed media concerns about exploiting his ex-wife’s death for attention. He admitted that he stayed home on February 5 due to health reasons and denied being present at his ex-wife’s family on the evening of February 5 as reported.

When asked about controversial social media comments, Uong Xiao Fei confirmed they were fake accounts and not his own posts.

On February 7, Uong Xiao Fei’s mother, businesswoman Zhang Lan, clarified matters during a live stream.

Zhang Lan denied exploiting her daughter-in-law’s death for public sympathy and refuted rumors of hiring a private plane to transport Elva Hsu’s ashes back to Taiwan.

“The truth is what it is, and lies are lies. Don’t vent your anger here. Our lawyers are handling the situation,” Zhang Lan said.

On February 6, tensions between Elva Hsu’s family and her ex-husband’s family escalated after Weibo accounts claimed Uong Xiao Fei hired a private plane to bring his ex-wife’s ashes home.

Zhang Lan, Uong Xiao Fei’s mother, liked one of these posts, sparking widespread discussion online.

Subsequently, Elva Hsu’s family denied the claims, stating that they had fully covered the costs of the flight, unrelated to Uong Xiao Fei.

On February 6, the aircraft rental company issued a statement confirming that Elva Hsu’s younger sister, Elva Hsu De, had paid for the entire flight, and that other circulating information was false.

Representing the family, Elva Hsu De addressed those spreading false rumors that harmed her family or exploited the tragic event involving her sister.

“The arrangements for my sister’s funeral in Japan, including the private flight back to Taiwan, were handled by our family and my husband, Hsu Ya-Chun. It is unacceptable that false claims now suggest Uong Xiao Fei rented the plane. I just want to send a message to those who are taking advantage of my sister’s passing.”

According to Next Apple sources, the cost of the private flight bringing Elva Hsu’s ashes from Japan to Taiwan was approximately $69,000 (over 1.7 billion VND).

Elva Hsu (born 1976) was a Taiwanese actress and singer known for her roles in dramas like Boys Over Flowers, War God, and Summer Bubble. Since 2011, she focused on a private life to care for her family.

Elva Hsu had two marriages, with businessman Uong Xiao Fei and Korean singer Koo Jun Yup. She had two children with her first husband.

Elva Hsu passed away on February 2 during a trip to Japan with her family. Her family confirmed she died from complications of the flu and pneumonia. Her sudden passing at the age of 49 deeply saddened fans and colleagues.

Uong Xiao Fei, five years younger than Elva Hsu, is the son of Zhang Lan, one of China’s most prominent female entrepreneurs. Uong Xiao Fei currently runs his mother’s business.

Elva Hsu and Uong Xiao Fei were married for ten years and had two children together. They finalized their divorce in late 2021, with Elva Hsu winning custody and alimony.

In the past two years, Elva Hsu and Uong Xiao Fei have repeatedly taken each other to court over property disputes, child custody, and post-divorce alimony.

Last December, Uong Xiao Fei confirmed his upcoming wedding with influencer Mandy in May in Beijing. They registered their marriage in 2024.
