On January 23, the premiere of the film Yêu nhầm bạn thân took place in Ho Chi Minh City, drawing significant attention from the media and fans. The event featured director Nguyễn Quang Dũng along with lead actors Kaity Nguyễn, Trần Ngọc Vàng, and Thanh Sơn.
At the event, Kaity Nguyễn was unexpectedly asked about rumors of her upcoming marriage into an aristocratic family. The actress shared, “Actually, I am 26 years old now. To say I don’t have any love is definitely not true. As for becoming a member of an aristocratic family, I will share that information officially when it’s confirmed. However, I believe that love is an essential experience for an actor to nurture emotions for their roles.”
In the film, Kaity Nguyễn plays a vibrant and energetic young woman who shares similarities with her real-life personality. However, this has led some people to believe that the role does not fully showcase her acting prowess.
Kaity Nguyễn explained, “For me, there is no role that is too easy. I always hope to portray characters with deeper psychological dimensions. But at this point in my career, which spans 8-9 years, I no longer focus on that. What matters most is being part of a well-crafted project with professional colleagues. If I were to wait only for challenging roles with complex inner lives, I might only appear on screen once every 3-4 years.”
Yêu nhầm bạn thân is rated T13 (for viewers aged 13 and above), but the film contains some scenes that are quite “hot,” including physical contact.
When asked about the film’s censorship process, director Nguyễn Quang Dũng shared, “According to the procedure, we submit the film to the review board. We follow their classification. Personally, I think today’s teenagers are different from our generation back then. A 13-year-old now is different, so I don’t think it’s a big issue. For me, this film is still wholesome, and being rated T13 is appropriate.”
Directed by Diệp Thế Vinh and Nguyễn Quang Dũng, Yêu nhầm bạn thân features production support and film assembly assistance from Trấn Thành. This Vietnamese adaptation of the popular Thai film Friendzone falls under the romantic comedy genre. Yêu nhầm bạn thân is one of three Vietnamese films competing in the Tet holiday movie race, alongside Bộ tứ báo thủ (directed by Trấn Thành) and Nụ hôn bạc tỷ (directed by Thu Trang).
