What Happened?
Ms. S. shared that while her children were watching the fireworks, there was a sudden small explosion causing the fireworks to scatter. As a result, the boy was burned on his hand, and the girl was burned on her face. Upon realizing that her children were crying in pain with their clothes partially burnt and severe injuries, she immediately took them to the emergency room for treatment.
According to the older child’s account, the fireworks were placed on a chair to be ignited, but the chair tipped over, causing the fireworks to fall onto the street and hit both children. “My son told me that they placed the fireworks on a chair to ignite them, but the chair fell, making the fireworks fly towards the children. It was truly an unfortunate accident,” Ms. S. said.
Local Authorities’ Response
Upon receiving the report, the Tan Binh Ward Police promptly arrived at the scene. They assisted in transporting the two children to the hospital for initial treatment, bandaging their wounds, and recording details of the incident. On January 29, representatives from the local authorities visited the children to check on their health and further investigate the incident.
However, the family remains upset as the individuals responsible for the accident have not yet reached out or shown any signs of responsibility toward the children.
