On the morning of February 8th, a serious accident occurred during a traditional boat race organized by the People’s Committee of Binh Trieu Commune, Thang Binh District, Quang Nam Province. Mr. Nguyen Tan Cang, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Binh Trieu Commune, confirmed this information to Dan Tri reporters.
According to Mr. Cang, the incident happened when the racing boat from Phuoc An Village, Binh Hai Commune, Thang Binh District, capsized and sank during the third round of the race at the Chuo Duc River pier. The accident resulted in three people being injured, with one person sustaining severe injuries.

Immediately after the accident, the organizers promptly halted the race and mobilized rescue teams. In addition to the organizers’ efforts, paddlers from nearby boats also actively participated in the rescue operation, safely bringing the three athletes to shore.
Two of the injured athletes with minor injuries were taken to Thang Binh District Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, athlete Nguyen Dinh Nhat (37 years old, residing in Binh Hai Commune, Thang Binh District) was seriously injured and transferred to Quang Nam General Hospital for intensive care. By late afternoon, one of the paddlers had been discharged from the hospital.

The traditional boat race on the Song Truong Giang River, organized by the People’s Committee of Binh Trieu Commune, featured nine teams and attracted many strong teams from Quang Nam Province.
Prior to this incident, another capsizing event occurred during a traditional boat race in Binh Giang Commune, Thang Binh District, but timely rescue efforts prevented any injuries.
