Vietnam Football Federation Targets 4 Gold Medals at SEA Games in Thailand

HLV Hoàng Anh Tuấn: "Bóng đá Việt Nam sẽ phát triển ổn định trong năm 2025"

President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan, stated that the women’s national team aims to defend their gold medal (HCV). In the past four consecutive SEA Games, from the 29th SEA Games in 2017 to the 32nd SEA Games in 2023, we have consistently secured the championship title.

Regarding men’s football, the VFF has set high goals for the U22 Vietnamese team at the 33rd SEA Games in 2025. Vietnamese football will compete as the Southeast Asian champions at the national team level.

Although the age limit for men’s football at the SEA Games has been reduced to U22, our team of players aged 22 is quite strong.

The U22 Vietnamese team boasts a high-quality lineup across all positions, including goalkeepers (Cao Van Binh, Tran Trung Kien), defenders (Le Nguyen Hoang, Nguyen Manh Hung, Pham Ly Duc), midfielders (Nguyen Thai Son, Khuat Van Khang, Nguyen Van Truong), and forwards (Bui Vi Hao, Nguyen Dinh Bac).

Additionally, expatriate players like Zan Nguyen (Ho Chi Minh City FC) or Viktor Le (Ha Tinh) could potentially join the U22 Vietnamese team if they complete the necessary formalities. Under Coach Kim Sang Sik (South Korea), the team would be formidable.

In women’s futsal, the Vietnamese women’s futsal team is the current Southeast Asian champion. We are the most formidable challenge to Thailand’s dominance at the SEA Games.

Similarly, in men’s futsal, alongside Indonesia, the Vietnamese men’s futsal team is also the biggest threat to the host, Thailand.

The 33rd SEA Games in 2025 presents an opportunity for Vietnamese football to become the dominant force in the region. We have a great chance to become the leading nation in terms of gold medals across various football events.
