The Story and Its Misfortune

According to Phước Danh Lottery Agency in Trà Vinh, the agency helped six people claim their jackpots with six winning tickets from Hậu Giang Lottery’s draw on February 1. Notably, all these winners were relatives living together in a coastal village in Trà Vinh.

However, the story took an unexpected turn when Mr. M., who owned ten winning tickets, shared his own misfortune. After purchasing the lucky tickets, Mr. M. distributed eight of them among his family members and kept two for himself. Unfortunately, he accidentally damaged both of his tickets.

Mr. Lê Hữu Phước, owner of Phước Danh Lottery Agency, confirmed that he helped claim the prize for six out of the eight intact tickets, while the other two were redeemed at another agency. The two tickets Mr. M. kept were ruined due to water damage when he went to catch fish in a paddy field.

“Mr. M. said he put the tickets in his pocket and went to work in the field. When he returned, he found the tickets soaked and crumpled. Although very disappointed, he remained calm and accepted the situation,” Mr. Phước shared.

Regulations and Final Outcome

According to Hậu Giang Lottery Company, damaged, crumpled, or partially missing tickets are ineligible for redemption. Despite Mr. Phước advising Mr. M.’s family to contact the company for further information, the final decision remained unchanged.

Mr. Đ., Mr. M.’s grandson, stated that the family contacted the lottery company to explain the situation. However, the company confirmed that the two tickets were severely damaged and could not be redeemed. The family eventually accepted this outcome.

“Truly unfortunate, as the total prize value after tax would have been $3.6 million. This serves as a valuable lesson about carefully preserving lottery tickets,” Mr. Phước emphasized.

Lessons Learned

Mr. M.’s story is not only a rare event but also a valuable lesson for lottery players. Properly safeguarding your tickets after purchase is crucial, especially if they hold the potential for life-changing opportunities. A simple oversight like keeping tickets in a pocket during strenuous activities or exposure to water can cost you a big chance.

Additionally, the story reflects Mr. M.’s optimistic and accepting attitude. Despite missing out on a substantial prize, he remained calm and did not blame anyone. This highlights that happiness and joy in life often come from how we face challenges rather than material gains.

Conclusion

The story of Mr. M. and the crumpled lottery tickets has sparked lively discussions on social media. It is not just a regrettable incident but a reminder of the importance of careful handling of personal valuables, particularly items of high value like winning lottery tickets. Always be cautious and attentive to small details to avoid unnecessary mistakes in the future.
