Causes and Course of the Incident

According to information from Traffic Control Patrol Team No. 6 (Traffic Police Department, Ministry of Public Security), the incident began when a truck with Binh Dinh province license plates traveling from Ho Chi Minh City to Binh Thuan suddenly caught fire violently on the highway section passing through Binh Son commune, Long Thanh district, Dong Nai province. The driver managed to bring the vehicle into the emergency lane and notified the authorities.

Dong Nai provincial police mobilized three fire trucks to extinguish the blaze. However, less than an hour later, at 6:30 AM, another multi-car pileup involving four container trucks, one 16-seater bus, one truck, and one sedan occurred on the same highway. The collision resulted in minor injuries to some passengers on the bus and sedan.

Vehicles were stuck in a long line from the National Route 51 interchange (Dong Nai) to An Phu (Ho Chi Minh City). Authorities worked hard to reroute traffic and clear the jam, but the situation remained complex due to the large number of vehicles.
