8 ngày nghỉ Tết, 481 người khám, cấp cứu do pháo nổ, pháo hoa

During the 8-day Tet holiday from January 25 to February 1, healthcare facilities nationwide provided excellent medical services, ensuring the health of citizens. The latest statistics highlight the remarkable efforts of the healthcare sector in maintaining stable operations during the extended holiday.

Medical Services and Emergency Care

According to reports from the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment (Ministry of Health), the healthcare system organized full 4-tier on-duty shifts, serving nearly 550,000 visits for examination and emergency care. Among these, approximately 200,000 cases required hospitalization for inpatient treatment. Notably, over 19,000 surgeries were performed, including 3,275 emergency surgeries due to accidents, as well as successful deliveries that welcomed 16,508 newborns.

Significant Reduction in Severe Accidents

Notably, compared to the same period during Tet in 2024, there was a sharp decline in cases related to firecrackers, fireworks, and homemade weapons. Only 481 cases required examination and emergency care due to firecrackers and fireworks, while 47 cases were related to homemade weapons and explosives. No deaths were recorded in this group. Specifically, the number of examinations and emergency treatments for firecrackers and fireworks decreased by 135 cases (approximately 23%), while cases related to homemade weapons dropped by 48 cases (about 53%).

In addition, gastrointestinal disorders, food poisoning, or alcohol/drug intoxication were effectively controlled. Over 700 people sought medical attention for these issues, with nearly 450 cases requiring hospitalization for observation and treatment. Fortunately, no deaths were reported.

Notable Decrease in Traffic Accidents

Another highlight of this year’s Tet holiday was the significant reduction in traffic accidents. Statistics show that over 24,000 visits for examination and emergency care were related to traffic accidents, with more than 9,750 people requiring hospitalization for inpatient treatment or observation. In total, 159 fatalities were recorded, including 66 who died before reaching the healthcare facility, 38 who died in the hospital, and 55 whose prognosis was terminal and requested to be taken home.

Compared to the same period last year, the number of examinations and emergency treatments related to traffic accidents decreased by nearly 9%, the number of hospitalizations decreased by 11%, and fatalities decreased by 28%. This reflects the effectiveness of campaigns to raise traffic safety awareness and the close collaboration between relevant authorities.

Conclusion and Recommendations

Overall, the healthcare situation during the 8-day Tet holiday in 2025 achieved positive results. Thorough preparation and the high sense of responsibility of healthcare professionals contributed to ensuring public health. However, to maintain and further improve the quality of healthcare services, individuals must enhance their awareness of accident prevention, especially during holidays. Always follow traffic laws, limit the use of firecrackers, and pay attention to food safety to protect your own and your family’s health.
