In late September, OpenAI launched Sora 2, the latest AI tool developed by the company for generating videos from text descriptions. This is an upgraded version of the text-to-video tool Sora, which OpenAI first introduced in February 2024.
Upon its initial release, Sora 2 was only available for iOS and limited to users in the United States and Canada.

Recently, OpenAI further rolled out Sora 2 to the Android platform and expanded its availability to users in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan (China), Thailand, and Vietnam.
Currently, Android users in Vietnam can find and install Sora from the Google Play Store on their devices.
The biggest advantage of Sora 2 is its ability to create videos from text descriptions with precise simulation of physical laws, making the videos more authentic and realistic, especially when objects move and interact with each other.
Sora 2 also allows users to generate audio and add voiceovers as requested. The voiceovers support multiple languages, including Vietnamese. The characters’ faces in the videos can even mouth words to match their speech.
This is a superior advantage of Sora 2 compared to most other AI video creation tools currently available, as the majority of text-to-video tools do not support generating audio and voice (with the exception of Google’s Veo 3 tool).
A prominent feature of Sora 2 is “Cameo,” which allows users to insert themselves into the generated video clips.
To do this, users simply upload a short video clip of their face and voice as a sample. Sora 2 will then use the provided content to seamlessly integrate them into the generated video, according to the user’s description.
Each video created by Sora 2 has a maximum length of 10 seconds. The application will also tag “Sora” within the video content so viewers can recognize and differentiate that these are AI-generated contents, not real videos.

The outstanding features of Sora 2 helped the application reach one million downloads in less than 5 days after its launch and topped Apple’s App Store for nearly three weeks.
Sora 2 currently remains among the top 5 most downloaded free apps on the App Store.
