Three Workers Injured at Cement Plant Receive Nearly $85,000 in Support

On February 11th, Mr. Hoàng Mạnh Khởi, General Director of Sông Lam 2 Cement Joint Stock Company (Nghệ An), announced that the company has provided a total of approximately $85,000 to the families of three victims involved in a workplace accident at the company’s cement plant in Hội Sơn commune, Anh Sơn district.

Each family received $60,000, totaling $180,000, to help improve their economic conditions. Additionally, the company offered an additional $2,100 to cover funeral expenses for each family.

According to the leadership of Sông Lam 2 Cement Joint Stock Company, this support demonstrates the company’s responsibility and compassion towards its workers in the event of accidents.

Prior to this, as reported by Dân trí, the accident occurred around 3:15 PM on January 24th at Sông Lam 2 Cement Joint Stock Company, resulting in the deaths of three workers. During the cleaning of the cement silo, materials unexpectedly collapsed, burying the workers.

Rescue operations were immediately launched, but it took 30 minutes to retrieve the first victim. Despite rescue efforts, the three workers—Nguyễn Hữu Nga (born 1976), Trần Văn Huyền (born 1970), both residing in Phúc Sơn commune, Anh Sơn district, and Thái Bá Minh (born 1971, residing in Hoa Sơn commune, Anh Sơn district)—died due to suffocation and being buried under the materials.
