On the afternoon of January 26, as the Tet holiday of the Year of the Rabbit 2025 approaches, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man visited and wished Tet to families with policy benefits, the poor, and workers in difficult circumstances in Can Tho City. This event demonstrated the deep concern of the Party and State leadership for the livelihoods of the people, especially the vulnerable groups in society.

Notable Achievements of Can Tho City in 2024
At the gift-giving ceremony, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man recognized and highly praised the achievements that Can Tho City has attained in 2024. The city maintained impressive economic growth at over 7.1%, with average per capita income reaching $4,200, budget revenue reaching 12 trillion VND, and export turnover reaching $2.8 billion. Additionally, the tourism sector saw significant improvements, welcoming 6.5 million visitors, while the poverty rate dropped to 0.09%.
These figures not only reflect robust economic development but also highlight the efforts of the entire local political system in improving the living standards of its citizens. Moreover, national defense and security efforts were emphasized, contributing to a stable environment for socio-economic development.
Emphasis on Education, Digital Transformation, and Streamlining Governance
Chairman Man emphasized that, alongside economic development, Can Tho City should continue to accelerate digital transformation, promote science and technology, and enhance educational quality. Currently, the city houses over 200,000 students and numerous universities, playing a crucial role in training high-quality human resources for the Mekong Delta region.
Additionally, he urged the city to effectively implement Resolution 18 on streamlining governance and enhancing anti-waste measures. These tasks are key to improving state management efficiency and facilitating sustainable development for the locality.
Activities to Care for Tet in the Year of the Rabbit 2025
According to Deputy Mayor of Can Tho City Nguyen Thuc Hien, the city has implemented many practical activities to care for its residents during Tet. Currently, Can Tho has approximately 40,000 policy-beneficiary families, revolutionary veterans, and烈士的亲属;超过1300名特别困难的儿童;以及近620,000名劳动者的约13,200家企业。

The city has allocated more than 70 billion VND from its budget to distribute 66,860 Tet gifts to policy beneficiaries, revolutionary veterans, martyrs’ relatives, the elderly, the poor, and social welfare recipients. Each gift is valued between 1 to 1.6 million VND, depending on the recipient.
In addition, Can Tho City has organized various cultural, sports, and entertainment activities during Tet. Streets have been decorated with artistic lights, creating a festive and joyful atmosphere to welcome the new year.

On behalf of the Party and State leadership, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man extended wishes for health, happiness, and prosperity to all leaders, officials, families of those who have made contributions, workers, and the people of Can Tho City. He affirmed that timely support from the government will help everyone have a warm and meaningful Tet.
During his visit, Chairman Man and his delegation directly presented 500 gifts to policy-beneficiary families, revolutionary veterans, the poor, workers, and those in difficult circumstances in Can Tho City.
