Discovery of the Abandoned Newborn Baby
At 1 AM on January 22, Mr. N.T.M., residing in An Dong village, Trung Son commune, Gio Linh district, Quang Tri province, heard a baby crying while he was asleep. Upon checking, he discovered a pink plastic basket at his gate containing a newborn baby girl estimated to be around 5 days old and weighing over 3 kg. The baby was dressed in a blue outfit and wrapped warmly in a blanket. Alongside her were essential items such as diapers, formula milk, towels, clothes, and other necessities.
Emotional Message from the Mother
Accompanying the baby was a note that read: “Please take care of my child as your own. She is a student, and I had to give her up due to a momentary lapse. My daughter, you are healthy and strong, just 5 days old. I am deeply sorry and hope you can forgive me.” This message reflects the deep pain and regret felt by the mother in leaving her child behind.
Actions Taken by Local Authorities
The local authorities immediately issued a notice seeking the baby’s family. If no one comes forward, they will proceed with registering her birth and handling all necessary legal procedures. Currently, the baby is being temporarily cared for and nurtured by Mr. M.
