A Harrowing Account of His Ordeal
During a two-hour conversation with his audience, Wang Jing detailed his terrifying journey at the Thailand-Myanmar border. He revealed that he was tricked into traveling to Thailand under the guise of an acting opportunity but ended up as a victim of a dangerous human trafficking ring. “I was locked up with 50 other Chinese nationals in a building, forced to learn typing and make scam calls,” Wang Jing recalled.
The captors, armed with weapons, left him no choice but to comply. “Living through those 78 hours of captivity felt like hell on earth,” he said. Even after his rescue on January 7th, Wang Jing still struggles with fear. “Sometimes silence is a form of self-defense,” he shared.
Advice from a Survivor
Wang Jing urges everyone to be cautious about enticing offers from strangers, especially job opportunities abroad. According to him, scammers often exploit the naivety of individuals facing career difficulties to lure them into traps. “If my story can help someone avoid danger, I am willing to share it,” Wang Jing affirmed.
The Dark Side of Human Trafficking Rings
Investigations revealed that the main perpetrator, Nhan Thập Lục, also known as Nhan Tuấn Phong, a former martial arts actor in China, had established a labor brokerage company. He recruited unemployed or lesser-known artists for foreign film projects, which were actually traps leading victims into human trafficking rings, organ trading, and training them as professional scammers.
In addition to Wang Jing, other celebrities like model Duong Trach Ky also fell victim to this network. They were taken across borders, lost contact, and endured torture and beatings to force their participation in illegal activities.
Light After Darkness
Fortunately, thanks to the cooperation between law enforcement agencies in Myanmar and China, Wang Jing and other victims were rescued and returned home safely. While he is gradually recovering physically and mentally, painful memories persist. “I’m relieved that everyone captured with me was saved,” Wang Jing shared.
Authorities have arrested Nhan Thập Lục and his accomplices, including Kim Lao Ho, who directly lured Wang Jing into trafficking. This marks a significant step in dismantling international human trafficking networks.
