On January 18, the Investigative Police Department of Thu Duc City (Ho Chi Minh City) officially prosecuted and detained Truong Thanh Tinh (born in 1990), known by the alias “Mr Lee,” for abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon individual interests. The case has drawn significant attention as it involves a prominent aesthetic hospital director in the city.

Case Details and Allegations

According to a complaint filed by Mrs. L.T.H.N., General Director of a major aesthetic hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, Truong Thanh Tinh posted numerous false statements on social media platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok. These posts not only defamed her reputation but also severely impacted her credibility and business operations.

Authorities confirmed that the information shared by Tinh, including claims like “99% of aesthetic clinics in Vietnam lack proper certifications or surgical licenses,” was entirely unverified. Additionally, allegations against the aesthetic hospital managed by Mrs. N. stemmed from baseless narratives and subjective assumptions made by Tinh.

During police questioning, Tinh admitted that he had never held any professional certifications in aesthetics or healthcare but deliberately made misleading statements to attract attention.

Repeated Offenses and Legal Challenges

Previously, “Mr Lee” had been caught practicing aesthetics illegally multiple times. In September 2023, authorities conducted a surprise inspection at his practice located at 15 Nguyen Quy Canh Street, An Phu – An Khanh Ward (Thu Duc City). There, they discovered Tinh had just completed a nose augmentation procedure for a client and was consulting others.

Despite being fined over 115 million VND in October 2023, Tinh continued his illegal activities. On November 15, 2023, authorities again found him and his wife, Nguyen Thi Thuong, performing unauthorized aesthetic procedures such as nose jobs and filler injections. One client revealed they had transferred a deposit of 1 million VND for a nose augmentation procedure costing 19 million VND.

Not stopping there, at the end of January 2024, Tinh participated as a lecturer at an unauthorized event named “KBIT’s Vietnam member meeting” held in District 10. There, he promoted anti-aging techniques and jawline contouring procedures, further violating legal regulations.

Conclusion and Warning

The case of “Mr Lee” highlights both contempt for the law and serves as a warning about choosing aesthetic services. Consumers should be cautious and thoroughly research medical facilities and practitioners’ qualifications before opting for any service.

The strict handling of Truong Thanh Tinh’s case demonstrates the authorities’ commitment to protecting citizens’ rights and maintaining order within the aesthetic industry. Readers should note that all violations will be dealt with according to the law.
