On February 17, the People’s Committee of Tan Lap Ward, Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak, met with the owner of an unlicensed daycare on Tran Quy Cap Street following an incident where a 9-month-old baby girl was found with a bruised cheek, leading her family to suspect abuse.
According to local authorities, the daycare is run by a woman renting a house to care for 4-5 children. As it is an informal operation, the ward’s People’s Committee has ordered its closure and is finalizing administrative procedures for penalties.
The case drew significant public attention, prompting Buon Ma Thuot police to investigate. Initial findings confirmed that the infant sustained a bruised cheek from a fall at the daycare, ruling out child abuse.
The baby is currently being treated at Tay Nguyen Regional General Hospital for an intestinal infection and monitored for the bruise on her cheek.
The baby’s father, Đ.V.N., 38, removed his social media post after receiving clarification and expressed gratitude to donors who offered financial support. He also announced he would no longer accept further assistance.
The daycare operator explained that the baby fell face-first onto a pile of toys while lying on a hammock, causing the bruising on her cheek, and denied any physical abuse.
Previously, Mr. N. had posted about the suspected abuse of his daughter online, garnering over 10,000 shares and thousands of comments expressing concern for the baby’s health.
