Recently, a TikTok video capturing a wedding ceremony in Thanh Hoa without the groom has garnered significant attention from social media users. Within a short period of its upload, the video reached nearly 500,000 views along with thousands of likes and comments.

In the video, the bride performed ancestral rites alone, stood solo on stage to greet guests, and quietly boarded the wedding car to her new home, leaving many viewers moved.

According to reports, the bride and groom at the center of this attention are Nguyen Gấm (26 years old, from Thanh Hoa) and Nguyễn Hiếu (30 years old, from Nghệ An). The couple held their engagement ceremony on February 6th and their wedding on February 8th.

Sharing with Dân trí reporters, Gấm explained that her husband was hospitalized for appendicitis surgery just three days before the engagement ceremony. On February 6th, during the financial exchange ceremony, the groom was still in the hospital, forcing the bride to perform the ritual alone.

On the day of the wedding, the groom’s health had not improved enough for him to travel to Thanh Hoa to fetch his bride. Consequently, the wedding ceremony took place at the bride’s house, where she completed all the rituals by herself.

“On the day the tent was set up, I received news that my husband was in surgery. Immediately, I rushed to Vinh City, 160 km away, to take care of him. I only returned in time for the financial exchange ceremony,” Gấm shared.

Gấm had imagined various poses for photos with her groom on her wedding day but ended up being alone. Both families were concerned and sympathetic toward the bride.

The bride revealed that she and her husband had recently returned from Japan and only had one month to prepare for the wedding. She was eager to have a perfect wedding like everyone else, but things did not go as planned.

“When both my husband and father-in-law were hospitalized, we seriously considered postponing or proceeding with the wedding. However, since we had to return to Japan on February 20th, we could not change the date,” Gấm said.

During the important day, Gấm’s mother-in-law stayed home to entertain guests. From the groom’s side, his uncle and aunt represented the family in fetching the bride. Meanwhile, the bride traveled alone in the wedding car for 160 km from Thanh Hoa to Nghệ An.

“About 7 km away from the groom’s house, he stood waiting to welcome me. Initially, he wanted to fetch me himself, but due to his wound, he couldn’t stand straight, so the family advised against it,” the bride recounted.

Despite his poor health, Hiếu managed to appear at the wedding ceremony at his house, completing the marriage rites with his wife. They cut the wedding cake, poured celebratory wine, and walked into their honeymoon suite hand in hand.
