Chợ Rẫy Hospital has officially inaugurated its 3.0 Tesla SIGNA Premier Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) system, marking a significant leap forward in diagnostic imaging technology in Southern Vietnam. This is the first MRI system of its advanced generation to be implemented here, capable of scanning twice as fast as previous models.
According to Mr. Bui Van Pham, Chief Medical Imaging Technician at Chợ Rẫy Hospital’s Department of Diagnostic Imaging, the rapid scanning technology of the 3.0 Tesla MRI significantly shortens examination times, from 15-20 minutes down to just 7-10 minutes. This not only reduces waiting times but also alleviates patient anxiety and fatigue from having to remain still inside the machine.
A key highlight of this system is its integration of a comprehensive artificial intelligence (AI) platform. The AIR Recon DL platform utilizes deep learning technology for image reconstruction, not only reducing noise but also increasing image resolution by up to 60%, leading to high diagnostic accuracy.
Notably, the 3.0 Tesla SIGNA Premier MRI also features Sonic DL technology, a breakthrough that allows cardiac imaging in a single heartbeat, up to 12 times faster than conventional methods. This significantly enhances the diagnosis of complex cardiovascular diseases, which demand high precision and speed.
The system also supports advanced neurological applications, with the ability to conduct detailed surveys of nerve fiber tracts, helping to detect even very small lesions and accurately assess damage from strokes or neurodegenerative diseases.
The device is equipped with a new generation AIR Coil receiver, featuring a lightweight, flexible design that conforms easily to the body, along with a 146-channel independent signal reception system, ensuring clear images and maximum noise reduction.
In cases requiring contrast agent administration, the machine is equipped with an externally controlled injection device, where parameters like drug volume and injection pressure are set by the technician via the control system, ensuring an automated and precise injection process.
Images from the MRI machine are quickly transmitted to the technician’s computer and then to the doctor’s computer via the electronic health record system.
Patients receive their MRI films immediately after the examination, enabling doctors to quickly formulate treatment plans and patients to receive timely care, reducing anxiety and costs.
The 3.0 Tesla SIGNA Premier MRI system has been operating continuously for 13-15 hours daily since November 3rd, serving approximately 30 patients. To meet the growing demand for medical examinations and treatment, Chợ Rẫy Hospital is expediting the installation of another similar system this year.
