The Accusation on Social Media

A netizen posted that the Walking Through the Blazing Sky crew used their home for filming but has yet to pay the rental fee. They shared: “The Walking Through the Blazing Sky crew rented our place for filming and lodging. Although the film was successful, my mother has been demanding payment for months, but the crew keeps delaying. Now, they don’t even respond to her calls. I hope this information spreads so they can contact my mother soon.”

The post included behind-the-scenes photos from the film, capturing scenes inside the dormitory where the character Pu, played by actress Thu Hà, lived. The post quickly gained traction across various Facebook groups and generated numerous mixed comments.

Official Response from Director Đỗ Thanh Sơn

In response to these accusations, director Đỗ Thanh Sơn addressed the press. He stated that the claim of unpaid location fees is entirely false. According to him, the crew had fully settled all expenses immediately after filming concluded at the end of 2024.

“I don’t understand why that account spread this misinformation; the crew has already paid the rent in full. Perhaps they wanted to gain likes or attention due to the film’s success,” said the director.

Overview of the Film “Walking Through the Blazing Sky”

Walking Through the Blazing Sky is a film depicting the coming-of-age journey of Pu, an 18-year-old Dao ethnic girl. In the film, Pu meets and develops a complex relationship with Chải, the richest boy in her village, played by actor Long Vũ. Despite loving Pu deeply, Chải tries to prevent her from pursuing her education.

After several challenges, both leave their village for Hanoi to study and work. Eventually, they grow closer, and the story concludes with a happy ending. The film became a sensation, reaching over 1 billion views after just 8 episodes. Notably, the final episode on the producer’s YouTube channel garnered over 1.6 million views by October 19, 2024.

Mixed Opinions About the Ending

Despite receiving widespread support from audiences, Walking Through the Blazing Sky also faced some criticism. Many fans felt that the ending came too abruptly—ending at episode 58 instead of the planned 100 episodes. This left many viewers feeling disappointed.

However, director Đỗ Thanh Sơn explained that shortening the number of episodes was part of the original plan and had nothing to do with negative feedback on the script or acting.

Conclusion

The allegations against the Walking Through the Blazing Sky crew regarding unpaid location fees have been clarified. The crew confirmed that they fulfilled all financial obligations and urged the public to view the matter objectively. The film remains a notable mark in the hearts of Vietnamese audiences and opens up new opportunities for future film projects.
