On January 20, 2024, at Ho Guom Theater in Hanoi, General Secretary To Lam attended the ceremony for announcing and awarding the 9th National Journalism Prize on Party Building (Golden Hammer and Sickle Award). The event was held to commemorate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 – February 3, 2025).
The Golden Hammer and Sickle Award is one of the most prestigious journalism awards, organized by the Central Steering Committee, in collaboration with major media outlets such as Nhan Dan newspaper, Cong San magazine, Vietnam Television, and the Vietnam Journalists Association. This year, the award attracted 2,544 entries, an increase of 328 compared to 2023. Entries in print, online, television, radio, and photojournalism categories were all highly regarded.

The final jury selected 137 outstanding works for the final round. The results included 6 first prizes, 12 second prizes, 18 third prizes, 10 special topic awards, and 40 commendations. Notably, the work “Secretaries Sowing Aspirations for Wealth in Remote Areas” by authors Can Cuong, Phuong Thao, Pham Tuan, Duc Hanh, and The Hung from Dan Tri newspaper won a commendation.
At the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam emphasized the vital role of revolutionary journalism in the construction of the Party and political system. He noted that 2025 marks the 100th anniversary of revolutionary journalism in Vietnam, a significant historical milestone. The Golden Hammer and Sickle Award not only recognizes excellence but also serves as an incentive for journalists to continue contributing and innovating.

According to General Secretary To Lam, this year’s entries were not only rich in content but also demonstrated meticulous and creative presentation. Many works delved into significant and complex national issues, positively contributing to Party building and political system development. Journalism has played a pioneering role in denouncing negative behaviors, fighting corruption and waste, and promoting positive values and exemplary models among party members, officials, and the public.

General Secretary To Lam also acknowledged and highly appreciated the contributions of the entire national press, particularly those focused on Party building. He emphasized that journalism has effectively promoted and disseminated major policies and guidelines of the Party, contributing to the nation’s development.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam congratulated the authors, teams, and media outlets that won awards at the 9th Golden Hammer and Sickle Award. He expressed hope that journalism will continue to play its vital role in building a stronger and more robust Party and political system in the future.
