According to Mr. Dũng, several fishermen discovered a dead dolphin (locally known as “Cá Ông Chuông”) washed ashore in the Bãi Sau area of Xuân Thạnh village, Mỹ An commune, on the evening of April 15th.
Observations revealed a dolphin approximately 1 meter long and weighing over 30 kg, with no visible signs of injury or trauma.

Fishermen from Xuân Thạnh village took the dolphin’s body to a local temple for a traditional burial ceremony.
Dolphins and whales are revered by Vietnamese coastal communities, considered as lucky omens and protectors of fishermen at sea.
The “Cá Ông Chuông” (scientific name Pseudorca crassidens) is a dolphin species belonging to the Delphinidae family, the third largest in the ocean dolphin family.
