Dong Nai province is requesting clarification on suspicious land use practices at the 24-hectare Ó and Đồng Trường Islands in the heart of the Trị An Reservoir, the largest hydropower reservoir in the South. Concerns exist regarding land use, construction, business operations, and associated financial obligations related to the resort project.
Dong Nai demands clarification on land use at Ó and Đồng Trường Islands – 1
The Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee (UBND) is directing relevant departments and Vĩnh Cửu District to investigate issues surrounding the land on Ó and Đồng Trường Islands, located in Mã Đà Commune and Vĩnh An Town. Specific areas of investigation include land use, construction, tourism service operations, and financial obligations.
The Ó and Đồng Trường Island resort project was entrusted to Dong Nai Tourism Company in 2000, aiming for an eco-tourism model. However, business operations were unsuccessful. In early 2017, Dong Nai Tourism Corporation transferred the land assets to Cường Thuận IDICO Investment Development Corporation.
Following the transfer, Cường Thuận IDICO invested in and built key infrastructure, including an underground power line from the mainland to the islands, paved roads, restaurants, a swimming pool, a guesthouse, and a tennis court, to enhance the resort experience.
However, these opaque matters require clarification by the relevant authorities. Investigating these issues is critical for effective land management, transparency, and adherence to legal regulations in socioeconomic development.
Conclusion:
The Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee is demanding clarification on irregular practices in the management and development of the Ó and Đồng Trường Islands resort. This clarification will help ensure transparency, efficiency, and adherence to legal regulations in investment and business activities. It also protects the interests of the state and the community.
