On the afternoon of February 6, a severe fire broke out at a refrigeration warehouse in Buôn Ma Thuột City, Đắk Lắk Province. Thanks to the swift coordination between authorities and local residents, the fire was brought under control promptly, preventing significant damage.
Fire Erupts and Initial Response
The fire began around 3:30 PM at a refrigeration warehouse located on the West Bypass Road in Buôn Ma Thuột, passing through Thành Nhất Ward. According to a representative from the Thành Nhất Ward People’s Committee, a local police leader noticed smoke and flames while passing by. Immediately, he and nearby residents used temporary measures to suppress the fire and alerted the fire department.
Due to the presence of highly flammable materials like plastic, rubber, and old electronic components inside the warehouse, the fire spread rapidly. Columns of black smoke rose tens of meters high, covering the area and raising concerns about the risk of spreading to nearby businesses.
Support from Emergency Services
Upon receiving the alert, the Fire Prevention and Fighting and Search and Rescue Police Force of Đắk Lắk Province dispatched multiple specialized fire trucks along with dozens of officers and soldiers to the scene.
Authorities worked with residents to evacuate some assets, minimizing losses. Meanwhile, firefighters focused on spraying water from various angles to isolate the fire and prevent it from reaching neighboring areas. After about 30 minutes of effort, the fire was completely extinguished.
Outcome and Preliminary Cause
According to Colonel Nguyễn Văn Bôn, Deputy Director of the Đắk Lắk Provincial Police Department, who directly oversaw firefighting operations at the scene, the fire was controlled promptly, significantly limiting property damage. Fortunately, there were no casualties in this incident.
The preliminary cause of the fire was determined to be an electrical short circuit at the warehouse. This serves as an important reminder to regularly inspect electrical systems, especially in warehouses storing flammable materials.

This fire incident clearly demonstrates the importance of raising fire prevention awareness within the community. The early detection and rapid response from both emergency services and residents played a crucial role in preventing serious consequences.
