On the afternoon of February 10, a working group from Traffic Police Team No. 2 (Hanoi Traffic Police Department) was on duty to handle alcohol concentration violations on Kim Ma Street (Ba Dinh District, Hanoi).

At approximately 1 PM, traffic police conducted an alcohol concentration check on Mr. N.H.P. (51 years old), who was driving a motorcycle with another man riding pillion.

Notably, upon seeing the traffic police checking Mr. P.’s alcohol concentration, the man riding behind him unexpectedly threw a half-empty beer can onto the road.

Working with the task force, Mr. P. stated that earlier that day, he had met an old friend and they had consumed beer together.

“Because we hadn’t seen each other in a long time, I drank more than one glass of beer,” Mr. P. said, adding that after leaving the pub, he drove his motorcycle to work and was subsequently stopped by the task force for inspection. The result showed Mr. P. violated alcohol concentration limits, testing below 0.25mg/liter of breath.

For this violation, Mr. P. will be fined 2.5 million VND, have 4 points deducted from his driver’s license, and his vehicle will be impounded for up to 7 days.

According to the Hanoi Traffic Police Department, from January 1 to February 4, traffic police forces across the city handled over 19,800 violation cases. Among these, nearly 5,000 cases were for alcohol concentration violations, and over 1,400 cases were for speeding violations.
