Information from Hue Central Hospital indicates that five patients were admitted, including P.T.T. (born 1976), D.M. (born 1972), T.T.S. (born 1953), L.V.S. (born 1952), and H.T.M. (born 1975), all residents of Phu Bai Ward. The burn severity ranged from 2% to 25%, with the most severe case being Ms. P.T.T., who suffered full-body burns on her back, thighs, and buttocks, requiring close monitoring.

That afternoon, a video clip documenting the scene was widely shared on social media in Hue. According to the footage, five individuals—two women and three men—were found motionless beside a newly erected New Year’s tree in front of a two-story house. The area featured a fishbone pole and a high-voltage pole, with numerous electrical wires crisscrossing above the tree.
In the video, a man attempted to switch off the power using a wooden stick on the electrical pole. After addressing the issue, he rushed to check on the victims. Many bystanders quickly assisted in moving the victims to a safer location.
